Your eyes aren’t the only things you can ‘see’ with -- well, not if you've got help from a sensory device called BrainPort.

Earlier this month, a blind man in Wisconsin, became the first in America to be able to see with his tongue. 

BrainPort includes component that is placed in the mouth and uses a video camera to essentially draw maps on the tongue. With practice and learning, the brain is able to conceptualize visual representations from the sensory information received on the tongue.

Developed by Wicab, the technology has been available in Europe since 2013 and the FDA recently approved it in the United States.
