In a classical example of how imminent destruction in nature can sometimes invoke pure beauty, photographers Nick Selway and CJ Kale braved the harsh waves to capture the perfect moment that lava meets water in Kalpana, Hawaii.

As you can imagine, this is quite a feat to accomplish since the boiling lava raises the temperature of the surrounding ocean up to about 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees C) which steadily increases the closer they get to the volcano flow, so both photographers are dancing right next to the devil, but I think the results are worth it. What about you?

You can see even more of their work here.
