This image combines the heavens and Earth in a beautiful way. Besides the Milky Way, it features Milford Sound, which is (unsurprisingly, I might add) located on New Zealand's South Island.
In day-light hours, Milford Sound is known for its natural waterfalls and fjords, but when the Sun disappears from the Sky and darkness creeps in, its skies—along with the South Island as a whole—are among the best in the world for seeing and capturing our galaxy in all its glory.
