This is Monument Valley located in the Colorado Plateau, USA. In this image, taken by Wally Pacholka from AstroPics.com, the plateau is crowned with the magnificent arch of the Milky Way. Slightly diminishing the full glory of the Milky Way, just off over the horizon, you can see the faint glow of city lights. Fortunately, this vantage point is far enough away from the bright city lights to set the stage for this splendid image.

In fact, if you are away from the city on a clear night, you can see the band of Milky Way cut across the sky.
