Bone Thugs-N-Augmented Reality

Watch Augmented Reality Turn a Dude Into a Straight-Up Skeleton

It’s incredibly impressive.
This video demo of a Snapchat lens from augmented reality developer Kavin Kumar shows how it's able to turn a person's body into a spooky skeleton.

Skin and Bones

The tech behind augmented reality (AR) is becoming more and more sophisticated each day. For a compelling example, look no further than the independent developers creating impressive lenses and filters for Snapchat and TikTok.

Take this demo of a Snapchat lens, from a developer named Kavin Kumar. It shows off his lens’ ability to turn a person’s flesh into, well, bone:

Impressive Segmentation

While the graphics of the skeleton itself look a bit PlayStation 2, the segmentation of the person’s skin is incredibly impressive.

Not only does the software know to turn the person’s head and neck into bones, but it’s also able to recognize and transform their body when they lift their shirt up. The applications for virtual garments — or virtual bodies — are clearly immense.

Try it out for yourself using this Snapchat lens unlock code from Kumar.
