• YouVisit, the virtual reality company that pioneered virtual college tours with Oculus Rift, has expanded to New York City restaurants. YouVisit Restaurants is a new, free app for the Samsung Gear VR headset to experience restaurants in immersive VR.
  • “Good atmosphere” has been found to be a significant factor in restaurant ratings. The app has been called “reverse teleportation” by the company’s director of marketing, Suzanne Sanders.
  • The app currently features hundreds of restaurants throughout the city and developers plan to add more. VR technology like this is expected to grow into a $60 billion industry in the next 10 years, according to the investment bank, Piper Jaffray.
