- MeyGen, owned by Atlantis Resources Ltd, plan to install by the end of the year underwater turbines along the Scottish coastline
- Scientists believe that by harnessing the energetic waters, up to a third of Scotland could be powered
- The turbines will be about 0.9 miles (1.5km) from the shore and they will be ‘on a par with wind turbines’ in terms of their productivity
