The Breakthrough
Imperial College London engineers have been able to develop a computer program which enables a user to control a robotic arm using eye commands in order to paint a simple image. This is achieved by having a person control the robot arm with commands by using eye movements that have been programmed through the software. Augmenting a robotic arm using the software that these researchers have created has shown the possibility to extend the range in which humans can multitask.
The Implications
This kind of innovation demonstrates how people in the future may be able to use robots in order to do more tasks at one time or to fully let these machines do tasks for them through commands. By developing further into this field, we may be able to become more productive at home and at the work place with the help of this technology.
