A Guaranteed Grand Arrival
Last month, BMW announced that their self-driving cars would come out by 2021 as part of their Vision Next 100 series. And now, their subsidiary — luxury automobile brand Rolls Royce is also unveiling their own Vision 100 concept.
“Rolls-Royce 103EX is our first ever vision vehicle, and embodies just one of the endless possibilities that awaits. A personalised icon for the future, providing a sanctuary of calm in an ever-faster world. The pinnacle of effortless autonomous travel, gliding silently through the cities of tomorrow. This is our VISION NEXT 100,” their webpage describes.
Rolls Royce outlines that their vision for the next 100 years is for every vehicle they provide to be uniquely customized to the owner.
"Looking towards the next 100 years, each and every Rolls-Royce will be a unique work of art," says the Rolls-Royce website. "Shape, size and silhouette – you will be able to craft your vision entirely from the wheels up.”
The design commands attention: it screams luxury, to be more specific, and guarantees a “grand arrival.”

Mobile VIP Lounge
Not only is the 103EX their first driverless car, it also comes with an AI concierge named Eleanor, after Eleanor Thornton, who supposedly posed and inspired the brand’s flying lady ornament, also known as “Spirit of Ecstasy.”
The 103EX sports "a futuristic, powerful, zero-emission drivetrain" and aims to serve “the most discerning and powerful patrons in the world.”
“The interior space is designed to be a retreat from the world – evoking a feeling of privacy, warmth and ultimate relaxation,” their website adds.
Upon opening the door, the floor is lit up like a VIP lounge, giving you a “personal red carpet.” It also comes with a roof canopy so you can admire the skylight in your own “panoramic observatory” on the road.
As Rolls Royce says, “the only sound is the hushed beat of your own heart.”
