New Horizons will transmit data to Earth at 1 to 4 kilobits per second for a year

It's hard to transfer data across the solar system. The radio signals from New Horizons will take 4 and half hours to reach earth, even at the speed of light.
The download rate is even slower -- about 1 to 4 kilobits per second.
But for space geeks, we'll get new unprocessed pictures from New Horizons' imager every Friday from NASA.
