• The course, AAE/IE/490: Hyperloop Design, is a junior and senior level technical elective course. It's listed in three different departments in Purdue's engineering program: aerospace, mechanical, and industrial.
  • The course's requirements and assignments are based off of SpaceX's Hyperloop pod competition, and although students will probably submit their work to the competition, it is an independent class. SpaceX's CEO, Elon Musk, kicked off the recent Hyperloop hoopla by releasing a white paper through SpaceX.
