From 2 hours to 15 minutes

Peter Diamandis, Founder of XPrize, Singularity University, and anti-aging startup Longevity Inc, announced during the 6th Dubai CEO Forum that he will follow through on his vision of bringing the revolutionary, break-neck hyperloop system to the UAE by 2020.  Diamondis, who is also a Board member of Hyperloop Technologies, promised a transit time from Abu Dhabi to Dubai of 15 minutes or less, a trip that currently takes about two hours by car. The hyperloop was first conceptualized by business mogul and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in 2013, who advanced the idea of linking Los Angeles and San Francisco with a transit line that is essentially a high-speed monorail using an aerodynamic pod that will move through a series of pneumatic tubes to its destination at a speed of 760 miles per hour.

Reinventing transportation

"Hyperloop is about reinventing transportation,” Diamandis said. “This is about the future. This is like how mobile telephone reinvented the world many times over." Diamandis's project joins three other Hyperloop projects, including one by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies that's set to begin construction in 2016.
