# What It’s Like to Ride the World’s Tallest Waterslide

The Verrückt waterslide at [Schlitterbahn Waterpark](<https://www.schlitterbahn.com/kansas-city>) in Kansas City, Kansas, lives up to its name ("Verrückt" is German for "insane").

It's 58 meters (168 feet) tall, making it, by far, the world's tallest waterslide. After going over the first massive drop, riders soar over a second hill (a "mini" hill) that is a staggering 15 meters (50 feet) tall. Riders will have to trudge up 264 steps to the top. They will then be strapped into a four-person raft before careening down the slide at around 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph).

Recently, footage was released that shows exactly what it would look like to take this epic journey. The video is a little bit terrifying. Oh, and if you are wondering, the new slide is set to open later this year, in the summer of 2014. Ah, science — always giving us new ways to terrify ourselves with spectacular technology.
