# What If You Could Tell Google Maps to Avoid Polluted Areas Like It Does for Traffic?

- Last month, Google tested its environmental data collection abilities with three street view cars in Denver that collected data on nine air quality pollutants.
- The data gets uploaded to servers where Aclima's scientists take a look at it. For now, the data's not public, but Google says it will be one day.
- Google's teaming up with the EPA, the Environmental Defense Fund, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. The program is part of an experimental project called Google Earth Outreach.
