# Turning Smartphones into Laptops: Superbook Just Passed $1 Million on Kickstarter

Most of us spend a lot of time on our phones—to the point where software companies have made mobile app versions of desktop and laptop applications to complement users’ habits. But ultimately, the size and interface of our mobile devices limit us from truly realizing this possibility.

At least, they did.

To solve this, California-based startup [Andromium Inc](<https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andromium/the-superbook-turn-your-smartphone-into-a-laptop-f/creator_bio>). created the Superbook—“a shell that turns your Android smartphone into a complete laptop.”

The way the Superbook works is quite simple: it projects your smartphone’s computing power into a more comfortable interface using an OS they developed themselves. The laptop shell provides you with a full screen, keyboard, a multi-touch track pad, and comes with over eight hours of battery time.

The ingeniously simple concept, which [has raised over $1.2 million in funding within one week (with 19 days to go)](<https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andromium/the-superbook-turn-your-smartphone-into-a-laptop-f>), eliminates the need to sync files since you’re only using the same computer (your phone), and gives you the feeling of having a new laptop whenever you plug in a new phone, hence, the "future-proof" tag.

Oh, and it only costs $99.
