# This Autonomous Patrol Drone System Can Even Change its own Batteries

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have proven to be beneficial in the farming and energy production fields. One disadvantage, though, is that these machines still need humans to control them.

[Airobotics](<http://www.airobotics.co.il/>), a company based in Tel Aviv, resolved this issue when they presented a completely-automated patrol drone system with the same name. The autonomous drone system is capable of operating with virtually no human intervention and it can also maintain itself.

The system is made up of three parts: the drone, the "Airbase" or the base station ,and the command software. It utilizes a UAV that can carry a load of 1-kilogram for 30 minutes. After finishing a patrol, the drone lands at the base station and a robotic arm then automatically changes its battery and payload. All these actions are controlled by the integrated software that can be pre-programmed by the users and can allow the user to view real-time video and data feed.

Airobotic will most likely be useful in the mining and oil and gas industries.
