The Missing Night Sky: What Light Pollution is Keeping from Us?

What are we missing behind our urban-lit skies?

Civilization comes with tremendous benefits: plumbing, electricity, science, medicine, and the internet. But we’ve also lost something. Namely, the night sky.

Our urban environments are ceaselessly lit, throwing photons in every direction, including up. As our population grows, so does our inability to see the night sky. In this episode, take a journey from the Minneapolis Metro to Northern Minnesota, where civilization ends, and a window to the universe begins.
