## Not Poggers

Twitch’s no good, very bad week continued on Friday when hackers replaced a bunch of background images throughout the site with pictures of Jeff Bezos.

The images appeared on directory listings for games like *GTA V, Minecraft,* and *Dota 2,* [reported *The Verge*](<https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/8/22716184/twitch-hack-jeff-bezos-pictures-defaced?stream=top>)*.* They depict the Amazon founder making the "PogChamp" emote face that’s popular in Twitch chats.

Intriguingly enough, the same image appeared in a [4chan post](<https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/852822509346881557/895217846148272138/1633497544340.png>) that allegedly came from the Twitch hacker themselves. It’s 4chan though... so definitely take that with a grain of salt.

## Hack Job

It’s unclear whether or not the changes were related to the massive security breach at the Amazon-owned streaming platform that leaked more than 125GB of data. This data included the info on the platform’s source code along with unreleased projects.

Also leaked were three years worth of payout information for some of Twitch’s biggest streamers, [according to *The Verge*](<https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/6/22712250/twitch-hack-leak-data-streamer-revenue-steam-competitor>)*.* The information highlighted the massive earnings disparity between creators on the platform.

In the background of all this, hundreds of Twitch streamers logged off of the site in August to protest hate raids — drawing attention to what they believed was the company’s poor response to abuse.

Overall, it’s just another piece of bad news for the site. With [what’s been happening to Facebook](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/facebook-employees-have-reportedly-been-locked-out>) this week, it’s clearer than ever that it’s a bad time to be a social media platform.
