## Potty Mouth

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a weak spot for potty humor.

First, the carmaker introduced a ["fart app"](<https://futurism.com/tesla-debuts-romance-toilet-humor-modes>) for its electric vehicles, which generates rude bathroom sounds.

Now, Musk says Teslas will soon be getting "customized horn and movement sounds,"— including "goats" and "farts," according to a emoji-laden [Sunday tweet](<https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1180877114226008064>).

## Clop

And for all the "Monty Python" fanatics out there, Musk is including an option for "coconuts" movement sounds as well — [a reference](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHFXG3r_0B8>) to the British 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." The coconut sounds option [has already shown up](<https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-customized-horn-sounds-elon-musk/>) for Tesla owners as part of a new V10 software update.

It's not the first time Musk has referenced the film: in December 2018, Musk's tunnel-digging company The Boring Company [erected a tower of bricks](<https://www.teslarati.com/the-boring-company-lays-bricks-elon-musk-monty-python-watchtower-pictures/>) in reference to a watchtower that appeared in the movie, knight and all.

## Reverse!

It's not the first instance of Tesla buffing its sound design. Tesla added pedestrian warning sounds to its Model 3 last month [as *Electrek* reports](<https://electrek.co/2019/09/10/tesla-pedestrian-warning-system-model-3/>) — likely an effort to meet new electric car standards around the world, [including the U.S](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/electric-vehicles-noises-evs>).

Musk is also considering custom sounds uploaded by Tesla owners and the ability to honk — or "fart" — backwards by directing the sound behind the vehicle while backing up, *Electrek* reports.

## Author
I've been at Futurism since 2017, where my role has evolved to encompass design, writing, and increasingly editing. I've always been fascinated by space exploration and advanced transportation, which I've leaned into by interviewing luminaries in those fields while closely following the dimensions of policy and regulation that allow next-generation projects to succeed -- or, sometimes, to fail. I'm also keenly interested in the effects of generative AI on society, policies, and democratic institutions, as well as clean energy, physics and biology, and the vagaries of tech leadership. My work for Futurism has been cited by publications including Ars Technica, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Jalopnik, Fox News, and the New York Post. I spent my childhood living in locations including Manila, the Philippines, and Geneva, Switzerland, attended McGill University, and now live in Toronto, Canada. Before Futurism I worked at AskMen and a small photography studio. In my free time, I'm an avid gardener, foodie, and craft beer lover, as well as a maker of artisanal hot pepper sauces. I have a magnificent dog named Freida.
