And, unlike [many of Musk's other promises](), it appears the EV maker might just have turned that scifi concept into a reality. Early adopters of the truck [spotted]() a new "Wade Mode" in the vehicle's Off-Road Baja Settings, which both "raises ride height" and "pressurizes battery when driving through water." The rumored feature could explain a recent sighting of a Cybertruck [driving across a beach]() at a considerable speed. But, as always, we'll believe it when we see it. Tesla has yet to publicly prove, let alone advertise, that its extremely heavy stainless steel monstrosity can actually float. ## Gone Fishing Musk has also [mused]() that the "Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes and even seas that aren’t too choppy." "Needs be able to get from Starbase to South Padre Island, which requires crossing the channel," he added at the time, referring to SpaceX's testing facilities in South Texas. But we haven't heard Tesla making any mention of an "electric propeller on the tow hitch" that, according to Musk, would be required for the Cybertruck to navigate a body of water. Besides, as [*Teslarati* points out](), Musk likely would've mentioned such a feature during the [truck's announcement]() last month.
