## Earth Below

It was perhaps the photo op of a lifetime.

Inspiration4 has shared stunning new images originally taken by the crew of four space tourists, who [spent three days](<https://futurism.com/tags/inspiration4>) circling the Earth on board a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft in September.

The images include spectacular views of the Earth below, including extraordinary perspectives of the Sun peeking up from behind the horizon, flanked by the protective cover of the spacecraft's [massive glass dome](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-crew-dragon-will-feature-massive-glass-dome>).

The photos are also available for download in [full resolution on Flickr](<https://www.flickr.com/photos/inspiration4photos/albums/72157719997171144>) — a big upgrade over the [slow trickle](<https://futurism.com/spacex-tourists-photos-spaceship>) of selfies and in-orbit [silliness](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-tourists-magic-trick>) we got at the time.

## Going Orbital

While the views out of the massive glass cupola were stunning, the three day journey wasn't without hiccups. For instance, the onboard [toilet started acting up](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-tourists-struggled-with-space-toilet>) and at least one of the crew members [experienced space sickness](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-tourist-sick-first-two-days-mission>) as they adjusted post launch.

But the new photos do demonstrate once and for all that the views from several hundred miles above the surface are absolutely spectacular.

## Author
I've been at Futurism since 2017, where my role has evolved to encompass design, writing, and increasingly editing. I've always been fascinated by space exploration and advanced transportation, which I've leaned into by interviewing luminaries in those fields while closely following the dimensions of policy and regulation that allow next-generation projects to succeed -- or, sometimes, to fail. I'm also keenly interested in the effects of generative AI on society, policies, and democratic institutions, as well as clean energy, physics and biology, and the vagaries of tech leadership. My work for Futurism has been cited by publications including Ars Technica, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Jalopnik, Fox News, and the New York Post. I spent my childhood living in locations including Manila, the Philippines, and Geneva, Switzerland, attended McGill University, and now live in Toronto, Canada. Before Futurism I worked at AskMen and a small photography studio. In my free time, I'm an avid gardener, foodie, and craft beer lover, as well as a maker of artisanal hot pepper sauces. I have a magnificent dog named Freida.
