# Mark Zuckerberg’s Sister Posts Skin-Crawlingly Horrible Song About Crypto

We regret to inform you that the crypto bros are at it again — except this time, the "bro" in question is Mark Zuckerberg's sister Randi.

In what can regrettably only be called a "music video" posted to Twitter, the lady Zuckerberg offers her [Jenna Maroney](<https://30rock.fandom.com/wiki/Jenna_Maroney>)-esque take on Adele's 2015 hit "Hello" by turning it into a sort of explainer for cryptocurrency — and particularly the world of decentralized finance, known as DeFi to enthusiasts.

"Hello, it’s me, would you like to learn exchanging cryptocurrency?" the song's lyrics, which [*Vice* blessedly transcribed](<https://www.vice.com/en/article/jgmbn7/randi-zuckerberg-stars-in-very-cool-crypto-themed-adele-tribute>), read. "We’ll go over everything, cause you’ve got coins from different blockchains and want to do some trading."

This cringey ode to the world of DeFi features a shoutout to the artist's [web3 accelerator, HUG](<https://www.thehug.xyz/>), which is described on its website as "a decentralized community platform" that helps digital creators work "hand-in-hand with creative entrepreneurs to build the next billion-dollar business."

In the video, edited to have the same sepia tone as the Adele smash it's emulating, Zuckerberg appears to have a phone exchange with a silent, buttoned-up Wall Street type who looks despondent as she gets deeper into the Weird Al-esque ballad.

After name-dropping "some decentralized apps" (Uniswap and Compound, to name two), Zuckerberg ends her little ditty by declaring — again, to the tune of Adele's "Hello" — that she doesn't "need bankers shoving web2 in my face anymore," which is apparently an issue the tech scion's sister has experienced.

While this video may make some readers want to crawl out of their skin, others — including [whoever runs the social media](<https://twitter.com/hellosunshine/status/1494443695537471500>) for Reese Witherspoon's media company Hello Sunshine — [found it charming](<https://twitter.com/rachelsklar/status/1494679911973507074>) and [even "epic](<https://twitter.com/Syg_Investor/status/1494422917538623489>)."

Zuckerberg — who along with [being a crypto fanatic](<https://twitter.com/randizuckerberg/status/1489953914296356871>) is also an author, a mom, and the [Tony-winning Broadway producer](<https://americantheatrewing.org/advisors/randi-zuckerberg/>) of "Hadestown" and the "Oklahoma" revival — has lots of explainer videos on both her [YouTube](<https://www.youtube.com/c/RandiZuckerbergOfficial>) and [Twitter](<https://twitter.com/randizuckerberg/media>) pages, but it doesn't seem like she's posted a music video since 2007, when she parodied the Pussycat Dolls to sing about iPhones.

This web3 wildcard may not be as well known as her brother, but this latest video shows that, if nothing else, Broadway has [yet another cringe lyricist](<https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/meharazdan/why-gen-z-loves-to-drag-lin-manuel-miranda>) for us to keep an eye out for.

At Futurism, I've often been drawn to unpacking the narratives that underlie technological, scientific and medical progress, with a special interest in areas of conflict and ambiguity that end up setting agendas and steering the fates of both elites and the hoi polloi. I'm a committed generalist, but I often find myself returning to work involving NASA and the private space sector, the effects of AI on media and society, and the mechanics of the pharmaceutical industry, with a specific focus on the spread of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. Prior to Futurism, I worked for publications ranging from Media Matters and Truthdig to Raw Story and Bustle. I'm also the author of "Myspace Scene Queens," a 2024 title in Instar Books' acclaimed "Remember the Internet" series. My work at Futurism has been cited by outlets including the New Yorker, Slate, Nieman Lab, the Verge, the MIT Technology Review, the Sunday Times, and the Daily Beast. I grew up in North Carolina, attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and now live in Brooklyn, New York. In my free time, I'm an avid reader and music fan; you can probably find me at a local poetry reading, concert, underground rave, or DJ set. I'm the proud parent of an ineffable orange cat named Mee-Mow.
