## Besting Bezos

Tesla CEO and [meme thief](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/elon-musk-stealing-memes>) Elon Musk’s net worth just rocketed even further past Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ — solidifying him as the richest person in the world even more.

Musk’s wealth was bolstered after a deal with investors boosted the value of SpaceX in excess of $100 billion, according to [*Bloomberg*](<https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-08/musk-just-added-11-billion-in-wealth-dominates-the-rich-list?>)*.* His net worth hit $223 billion after the agreement, and gave him an additional $10.6 billion.

This put him well past Bezos whose net worth is a paltry $191.6 billion in comparison.

## Second Verse

Knowing the [bad blood](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/leaked-documents-blue-origin-spacex>) and [tension](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/elon-musk-taunts-jeff-bezos-second-richest-person>) between the two rival billionaires, there’s no doubt this is yet another thing about Musk that’ll irk the Blue Origin founder. When Musk surpassed Bezos in *Forbes’* billionaire rankings last week, he took the opportunity to [poke a little fun at his fellow space entrepreneur](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/elon-musk-taunts-jeff-bezos-second-richest-person>).

"I’m sending a giant statue of the digit '2' to Jeffrey B., along with a silver medal," Musk wrote in an email to [*Forbes*](<https://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrickcai/2021/09/28/elon-musk-responds-to-replacing-jeff-bezos-richest-person-silver-medal/?sh=22fc8dd01cd4>)*.*

This also isn’t the first time Musk has bested Bezos in terms of wealth. In January, the SpaceX CEO surpassed Bezos for a while after [Tesla shares surged](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/elon-musk-richest-person-earth>).

Of course, the billionaire rankings probably don’t matter too much to two of the wealthiest people in the world. What actually matters is that it’s just another opportunity for Musk to dunk on Bezos — something that he’ll no doubt relish in for a while.
