## Hunger Games

In 2011, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg [claimed to have given himself](<http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/06/02/barber.zuckerberg.locavorism/index.html>) a "personal challenge" of only eating meat that he killed himself. He even once slaughtered a goat and served it to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, according to a [*Rolling Stone* interview](<https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-rolling-stone-interview-782298/>).

Now, according to a post about his 2020 [New Year's resolutions](<https://www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/10111311886191191>), Zuckerberg [revealed](<https://www.businessinsider.com/mark-zuckerberg-hunts-wild-boars-feral-hogs-bow-arrow-2020-1>) that he still goes hunting.

"These days mostly with a bow and arrow though," he wrote.

When asked what animals he hunted, the CEO answered "wild boar."

## Pig Slayer

Zuckerberg hasn't been the most consistent in keeping up with his personal challenge. A groundbreaking [investigative report by *Today.com*](<https://www.today.com/money/mark-zuckerberg-no-longer-killing-what-he-eats-954978>) in 2012 revealed that — shocker! — Zuckerberg bought steak from a meat shop in Palo Alto, California.

In 2017, however, Zuckerberg [resumed](<https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/2017/07/13/mark-zuckerberg-will-only-eat-meat-he-kills-himself_a_23027199/>) his challenge.

## Blood Fever

In Zuckerberg's defense, wild boar have become an incredibly destructive animal species in North America. Assuming he's hunting locally, the invasive critters have made a total mess of agriculture and the ecosystem in both [the U.S.](<https://blogs.plos.org/ecology/2017/02/01/invasive-wild-pigs-leave-a-swath-of-destruction-across-u-s-and-they-keep-spreading/>) and [Canada](<https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/invasive-pigs-canada-1.5136431>).

If there's one animal worth hunting, in other words, it's wild boar. So good luck, Zuck. If only you could hunt misleading political ads with a bow and arrow as well.

## Author
I've been at Futurism since 2017, where my role has evolved to encompass design, writing, and increasingly editing. I've always been fascinated by space exploration and advanced transportation, which I've leaned into by interviewing luminaries in those fields while closely following the dimensions of policy and regulation that allow next-generation projects to succeed -- or, sometimes, to fail. I'm also keenly interested in the effects of generative AI on society, policies, and democratic institutions, as well as clean energy, physics and biology, and the vagaries of tech leadership. My work for Futurism has been cited by publications including Ars Technica, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Jalopnik, Fox News, and the New York Post. I spent my childhood living in locations including Manila, the Philippines, and Geneva, Switzerland, attended McGill University, and now live in Toronto, Canada. Before Futurism I worked at AskMen and a small photography studio. In my free time, I'm an avid gardener, foodie, and craft beer lover, as well as a maker of artisanal hot pepper sauces. I have a magnificent dog named Freida.
