## Giant Mecha-Hands

Amazon CEO and tech-billionaire Jeff Bezos just demonstrated a pair of massive robotic arms and hands at this year's re:MARS conference in Las Vegas, an event hosted by Bezos himself.

In a video uploaded to Twitter, Bezos can be seen operating two robotic, remote-controlled hands.

## Cyborzos

Bezos manages to pick up a plastic cup and stack it on top of a tower of other cups. But the Rubik's cube next to the cups remained unsolved.

"No thank you, I can't even do that with my hands," you can hear Bezos say in the video.

## Shadow Robot

The hands were built by motion tracking and telerobotics company HaptX in collaboration with robotics company Shadow Robot. Other than the robotic hands, HaptX has been developing a pair of VR gloves that gives their wearer a sense of ["realistic touch."](<https://haptx.com/>)

Amazon's re:MARS conference focuses on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Some of the biggest names in tech are attending the event, including "Iron Man" actor [Robert Downey Jr.](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/robert-downey-jr-clean-earth-robots-ai>) and Marc Raibert, CEO of [Boston Dynamics](<https://futurism.com/category/boston-dynamics>).

## Author
I've been at Futurism since 2017, where my role has evolved to encompass design, writing, and increasingly editing. I've always been fascinated by space exploration and advanced transportation, which I've leaned into by interviewing luminaries in those fields while closely following the dimensions of policy and regulation that allow next-generation projects to succeed -- or, sometimes, to fail. I'm also keenly interested in the effects of generative AI on society, policies, and democratic institutions, as well as clean energy, physics and biology, and the vagaries of tech leadership. My work for Futurism has been cited by publications including Ars Technica, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Jalopnik, Fox News, and the New York Post. I spent my childhood living in locations including Manila, the Philippines, and Geneva, Switzerland, attended McGill University, and now live in Toronto, Canada. Before Futurism I worked at AskMen and a small photography studio. In my free time, I'm an avid gardener, foodie, and craft beer lover, as well as a maker of artisanal hot pepper sauces. I have a magnificent dog named Freida.
