# Elon Musk Mocks Joe Biden for Not Congratulating SpaceX Fast Enough

Last week, SpaceX successfully completed the first all-civilian spaceflight with the successful splashdown of its Inspiration4 mission.

Shortly thereafter, the company and CEO Elon Musk racked up praise and congratulations from government officials including [NASA Administrator Bill Nelson](<https://twitter.com/SenBillNelson/status/1439417119075090433?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1439417119075090433%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnbc.com%2F2021%2F09%2F19%2Felon-musk-mocks-president-biden-after-spacex-completes-first-all-civilian-mission.html>) and spaceflight industry competitors including [Blue Origin CEO Jeff Bezos](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/bezos-congrats-musk-inspiration4>).

But apparently that wasn't enough for Musk, who took a jab at President Biden on Twitter for not yet offering a congratulation of his own.

## Sleepy Joe

Musk mocked Biden on Sunday afternoon after a Twitter user [called out the President](<https://twitter.com/rhensing/status/1439551459763314692>) for not yet acknowledging the mission's success or the [money that it raised](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-tourist-spacecraft-dozens-nfts>) for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, asking for theories on Biden's silence.

"He's still sleeping," [Musk replied](<https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1439665626914635783>), in what appears to be a reference to former President Trump's nickname for his successor, "Sleepy Joe."

This isn't the first time Musk has taken a jab at Biden. Just last week he [replied to a meme](<https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1439699675494461440>) depicting the massive union United Auto Workers as a parasitic alien that had latched onto Biden, mirroring his [earlier frustration](<https://futurism.com/elon-musk-furious-law-unionized-ev-companies>) at a new law that supports unionized automakers.

## Hand That Feeds

SpaceX has an overall cozy relationship with the federal government, [which *CNBC* notes](<https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/19/elon-musk-mocks-president-biden-after-spacex-completes-first-all-civilian-mission.html>) has awarded [plenty of contracts](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/spacex-funding-nasa-moon-mission>) to the private spaceflight company. A mildly-rude tweet is unlikely to change that, since SpaceX has proven itself to be capable of missions to the International Space Station time and time again and is [NASA's favored company](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/elon-musk-spacex-land-astronauts-moon-2024>) to develop a Moon lander.

The White House didn't respond to *CNBC*'s request for comment. If we may speculate, Biden's spokesperson was probably too busy rolling their eyes.
