## Affordable Lambo

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has teamed up with legendary Italian carmaker Lamborghini to create... an electric go-kart from hell?

The [Ninebot GoKart Pro Lamborghini Edition](<https://xiaomiplanets.com/ninebot-go-kart-for-lamborghini-edition/>) is a serious racer that can reach speeds of up to 25 mph (40 km/h). Propelling the Lamborghini yellow racer is a detachable Xiaomi self-balancing scooter.

The rear tires got an upgrade however to high traction rubber, but it's unclear if the scooter engine will be powerful enough to perform sick burnouts.

## Rear Wing

A cute rear wing gives the kart an actual aerodynamic and handling upgrade, at least if you're willing to [drink Xiaomi's Kool-Aid](<https://xiaomiplanets.com/ninebot-go-kart-for-lamborghini-edition/>). Four air ducts channel air to cool the battery pack.

The adorable go-kart will be able to tear it up for up to 62 laps around a 400 meter track. That's a range of just over 15 miles. Buyer beware: maximum passenger weight is 220 pounds (100 kg).

## Under the Hood

Built-in Bluetooth speakers can either play music or — far more excitingly — simulate the roar of a Lamborghini V8 or V12 motor.

"In addition, as a bonus, there is a program in the go-kart, which will ensure the release of loud noises, which will make not only the driver but also the surroundings reveal that there are beasts 'under the hood', in the form of a Lamborghini engine," Xiaomi's press release claims.

Xiamoi is putting the go-kart on sale for a [measly $1,450](<https://www.mi.com/buy/detail?product_id=12633&cfrom=search>) (in Chinese yen) starting tomorrow.

## Author
I've been at Futurism since 2017, where my role has evolved to encompass design, writing, and increasingly editing. I've always been fascinated by space exploration and advanced transportation, which I've leaned into by interviewing luminaries in those fields while closely following the dimensions of policy and regulation that allow next-generation projects to succeed -- or, sometimes, to fail. I'm also keenly interested in the effects of generative AI on society, policies, and democratic institutions, as well as clean energy, physics and biology, and the vagaries of tech leadership. My work for Futurism has been cited by publications including Ars Technica, Gizmodo, PC Magazine, Jalopnik, Fox News, and the New York Post. I spent my childhood living in locations including Manila, the Philippines, and Geneva, Switzerland, attended McGill University, and now live in Toronto, Canada. Before Futurism I worked at AskMen and a small photography studio. In my free time, I'm an avid gardener, foodie, and craft beer lover, as well as a maker of artisanal hot pepper sauces. I have a magnificent dog named Freida.
