The clip is [ another](<https://theoutline.com/post/3121/you-can-now-watch-nicolas-cage-play-james-bond>) [example](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/deepfake-ai-look-sound-joe-rogan>) of a [fun deepfake](<https://futurism.com/the-byte/neural-network-trump-sing-eminem>) — but experts have long fretted over the potential for misusing the tech, which uses a neural network to insert one person's likeness into a video of another person.

One major criticism is deepfakes' use in nonconsensual pornography, which creeps [often](<https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/j5kk9d/deepfakes-were-created-as-a-way-to-own-womens-bodieswe-cant-forget-that-v25n2>) use to slot celebrities' likenesses into erotic videos.

The other primary concern about deepfakes is that they could be used to spread disinformation, by making it seem as though a public figure said something they'd never actually said — though, for the most part, that second concern has [remained theoretical](<https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/5/18251736/deepfake-propaganda-misinformation-troll-video-hoax>).
