# Russia will equip all gas stations with electric vehicle chargers by 2016

- It's funny that the government is pushing electric car chargers seeing as only about 500 electric cars have been sold in Russia so far.
- Currently, you can buy electric cars from Mitsubishi, Nissan, BMW, and Tesla in Russia. There's even a domestic electric car maker, called AutoVAZ. One issue with electric cars in Russia is that the climate means warming up the engine could significantly hamper battery life.
- Still -- the knowledge you can fill up your electric car with juice anywhere a gas-powered vehicle can fill up might be the spark that Russia's EV market needed. It's likely that the charging stations will be provided by a Russian company, so don't expect to see Tesla snakes covering Russia.
