Virtual Rockstar

The popular music video game Rock Band has announced that it will be coming to virtual reality in 2016. The game announcement was made by the creator of Rock Band, Harmonix, and the founder of Oculus, Palmer Luckey. The announcement was made at the Game Awards, where they said that they have been working together for a while to bring an immersive, virtual reality version of the game to life.

Fans will now be able to enjoy playing the guitar, strumming the bass, smashing the drums, or singing with a crowd of virtual fans cheering them on.

This is arguably one of the biggest partnerships that has been revealed since the Oculus Rift was announced. The Rift has yet to receive an actual launch date, but Luckey confirms that it will be released by the first quarter of 2016. The full catalog of games have also yet to be released, but will likely include games from EVE Online studio CCP and Ratchet & Clank developer, Insomniac.
