# Panasonic Is Hiring Thousands to Work at Tesla’s Gigafactory

Tesla's Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada, isn't a bad place to work in. For starters, the factory, which [some people dub "Gigfactory 1](<https://futurism.com/elon-musk-announces-second-gigafactory-slated-for-europe>)," is huge. Plus, you get to [contribute to making the world a better place](<https://futurism.com/massive-scale-production-begins-at-teslas-gigafactory-1>) by building green batteries and cars. Well, if that sounds like your kind of job, then there might just be an opening for you.

Panasonic is hosting a hiring event on Wednesday, April 5, for people interested in working at the Gigafactory. It'll be held at the [Regional Public Safety Training Center](<https://rpstc-reno.com/>), located at 5190 Spectrum Blvd. in Reno, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

[According to Panasonic](<http://panasonic.taleo.net/careersection/panasonicenergy/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en&radiusType=K&keyword=PENA&searchExpanded=true&organization=2936740133730&radius=1&organization=2936740133730&portal=2140451937>), Tesla is looking to hire around 2,000 people to build batteries for [its $35,000 Model 3 vehicle](<https://futurism.com/5-elon-musk-reveals-model-3-video-on-twitter>). Open positions include material handler, production operator, maintenance technician, and shift lead.

[Tesla](<https://www.tesla.com/>) has slated the Model 3 to be in production by the middle of this year, and parts of it — including the batteries — will be manufactured in the Gigafactory. Apart from bringing in that many jobs, the Model 3 production will also pour an [investment of about $350 million](<https://electrek.co/2017/01/18/tesla-model-3-drive-unit-production-gigafactory/>) into the state of Nevada.
