• The team also says that it can be used to charge laptops, and is capable of charging multiple devices at a time. At present, 30 smartphones have been tested, charging at one watt each, and five laptops with 2.4 watts each, have been charged at a distance of 50cm.
  • The transmitter was built using high-frequency magnetic materials in a coil structure. It was built based on previous wireless power transfer that researchers from the Institute have created. Last year they were able to transfer 209 watts of power over a distance of five meters.
  • The wireless charging systems that are currently on the market are only able to charge devices that sit on top of them, which means that one of the biggest problems with the technology has been solved by this new development.
