# Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets COVID Vaccine

Former California Governor — and over-the-top 80s and 90s action movie star — Arnold Schwarzenegger got the first of two injections that make up the coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday.

Like several [other public figures](<https://futurism.com/neoscope/obama-clinton-bush-take-covid19-vaccine>), the actor-turned-politician decided to get vaccinated on camera, *[NBC ](<https://www.nbc12.com/2021/01/21/schwarzenegger-covid-vaccine-come-with-me-if-you-want-live/>)*[reports](<https://www.nbc12.com/2021/01/21/schwarzenegger-covid-vaccine-come-with-me-if-you-want-live/>), so that he could use the opportunity to encourage anyone who might be hesitant about getting the COVID-19 vaccine shot.

"Today was a good day," [tweeted Schwarzenegger](<https://twitter.com/Schwarzenegger/status/1351973032953188352?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1351973032953188352%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbc12.com%2F2021%2F01%2F21%2Fschwarzenegger-covid-vaccine-come-with-me-if-you-want-live%2F>), himself now a senior citizen at age 73. "I have never been happier to wait in a line."

After getting his shot, Schwarzenegger looked into the camera and repeated one of the most recognizable lines from the "Terminator" franchise: "Come with me if you want to live."

It's a cutesy nod to his time as a Hollywood A-lister, but also it's not far from the truth. While the coronavirus vaccine rollout has been [deeply flawed](<https://futurism.com/neoscope/biden-coronavirus-vaccine>) so far, getting inoculated against COVID-19 will, for many, be a matter of life and death.

So far, the coronavirus has killed [more than 406,000 people](<https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6>) in the United States, and [nearly 4,400 died](<https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/coronavirus-deaths-united-states-each-day-2020-n1177936>) on Wednesday alone. While the vaccine may not be a [silver bullet against infections](<https://futurism.com/neoscope/expert-vaccinate-everyone-earth-eliminate-coronavirus>), it is the best tool currently at our disposal when it comes to protecting individuals and getting life as close to "back to normal" as we possibly can in the near future.
