# How Has Science Fiction Changed Over the Decades?

Science fiction has shown itself as an outlet for predicting the future. But watch and read enough sci-fi from different eras, and you might notice a generational difference in how we told these stories. The difference isn't just in science and technology.

Science fiction from the golden age of sci-fi in the '50s and '60s seems to have an optimistic angle on the future. More recent science fiction seems to be a little more dystopia and bleak...Why?
