# Here’s what happens when you implant an NFC chip into your hand

- Oesterlund uses his NFC chip as his key to get into his tattoo studio. Makes sense -- when your key is part of your body, you can't lose it, and you can be sure nobody else has it. He's a tattoo artist but he also does implants on the side.
- The NFC chips are not complicated. They only have 880 bytes of memory. According to the AFP, there are 10,000 humans with implanted digital chips.
- "It felt weird for a couple of weeks... Then I started to understand that I've forgotten what it is to carry a badge to work, I've forgotten what it means to open a door with a key," said one cyborg who is currently employed by Kaspersky, an internet security firm.
