• The Tesla coils would be powered by pedestrians walking through a nearby public square. Ingels seems serious about the plan, saying he's already talked to experts in Tesla coils. "We imagine it like Big Ben, when the clock strikes the hour, we can have this celebration of human energy and human life," Ingels said.
  • The concept is the nearby square would feature a piezoelectric pavement which stores the energy imparted by people's footsteps. With 50,000 people walking over it daily there would easily be enough power for the Tesla coil.
  • It's just an idea for now -- it hasn't been approved. The idea was revealed at a lecture at the Royal Academy in London.
