• It’s actually not Google proper that will be working with Sanofi, it’s Google Life Sciences, a sister company to Google under the Alphabet holding company. Sanofi is a leading insulin manufacturer but its patent on its top selling insulin expires this year.
  • One of Google’s famous moonshots that’s close to founder Sergey Brin’s heart is a partnership with Novartis, which is developing a contact lens that can measure glucose in the tears of diabetics. That’s on track for a human trial in 2016.
  • “With Sanofi we can complete the picture of how diabetes unfolds and try to interrupt that development through a proactive and preventive approach,” said Andrew Conrad, head of Google Life Sciences.
