We've all heard the story of the woman who sued McDonald's for selling her scalding hot coffee — although you're likely mistaken about the [details of the case](<https://www.caoc.org/?pg=facts>) — so here's a new one for you: another diner is now suing the franchise after eating a McMuffin so rank it left her "permanently injured."

According [to the *Independent*](<https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/mcdonalds-sausage-mcmuffin-food-poisoning-lawsuit-b2994290.html>)*,* Yvette Hinds of Texas filed a civil suit alleging a sausage McMuffin with egg ordered from a New York City McDonald's contained "contaminants, poisons, toxins, parasites, bacteria, germs and/or organisms which would and did cause various serious personal injuries."

The complaint argues that the sandwich was "wholly unfit for human consumption," leaving Hinds "violently ill and nauseated" and suffering from "severe pains and distress throughout her body" after scarfing it down. Though the lawsuit was only recently filed in late May, the complaint stems from food purchased from a Times Square McDonald's back in 2023.

Hinds claims that the McMuffin was so tainted that it caused her "physical, nervous and mental systems" to be "seriously and permanently injured by such contaminated food." On top of damages related to the long-standing injuries, Hinds is seeking justice for "several operations, procedures and treatments" she suffered at the hands of this McMuffin, per the *Independent*.

"Solely as a direct consequence of the consumption of the food aforesaid, plaintiff Yvette Hinds was caused to incur great expense for medical care and treatment, and will continue to incur great expense for medical care and treatment in the future," the lawsuit declares.

McDonald's corporate didn't respond to the *Independent*'s request for comment, and Hinds' attorneys didn't explain what the alleged injuries were.

Still, it follows a number of similar civil suits plaguing the fast food company of late, like the case of a [Brooklyn pastor](<https://brooklyneagle.com/299276/brighton-beach-pastor-sues-mcdonalds-over-toxic-mccrispy/>) who claimed a rancid Deluxe McCrispy left him with a six-week stomach bug and an expensive receipt from the emergency room.

"I do believe that my faith saved me," the pastor [told the *Independent*](<https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/mcdonalds-mccrispy-food-poisoning-lawsuit-b2697121.html>) at the time. "As the Bible says, if you believe in God, not even poison is going to kill you."
