Donald Trump's Twitter clone, Truth Social, is in serious trouble.

The company has weathered bad news before, hitting [all-time low](<https://futurism.com/future-society/trump-truth-social-company-rock-bottom.md>) [stock prices](<https://futurism.com/future-society/trump-truth-social-stock-lowest-point.md>) on multiple occasions over the past year. But those days now look balmy in comparison, with the social network's shares sliding more than 7.5 percent on Monday alone and setting a new rock bottom of just $6.40. Zooming out doesn't paint a prettier picture, either: over the past month, the company's stock has fallen a stomach-churning 29 percent.

It's easy to empathize with any investors looking to ditch the company. It never had much of a *raison d'être* beyond "funnel some money to Trump," and the president's [declining political fortunes](<https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-election/poll-americans-anxious-pessimistic-deeply-unhappy-trump-ahead-midterms-rcna603064>) — not to mention looming midterms that are likely to undermine his remaining power — have weakened even that grift-era pitch.

As the [*Daily Beast* reported last week](<https://www.thedailybeast.com/trumps-fans-ditch-truth-social-in-stunning-exodus>), not even its users are sticking around, with analytics data suggesting that its daily traffic has cratered by more than 30 percent over the past year. For a company that was already posting [huge losses every quarter](<https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/10/trump-media-company-loss>), that's grim news — and it sounds like the company's remaining investors may now be seeing the writing on the wall.

As its fortunes have soured, Truth Social has tried a series of eyebrow-raising pivots into gambling and crypto that [failed to gain traction](<https://www.fox13news.com/news/trump-media-posts-massive-238m-loss-plans-major-business-pivot>). It also [moved to merge with a nuclear fusion company](<https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/business/trump-media-tae-technologies-merger.html>) and started selling early access to Trump's messages on the platform, in a move that was [widely derided](<https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/us/san-francisco-lawsuit-truth-social-early-access.html>) as an attempt to profit off his position as president.

So far, none of those moves have showed any signs of turning around the company's fortunes. Add it all up, and it's hard not to wonder whether Truth Social will survive as long as Trump's second administration.

## Author
I'm responsible for editing, assigning, and scouting at Futurism, as well as occasionally writing for the site. That work involves keeping an eye on a wide range of narratives and issues, but over the past few years I've become increasingly interested in how AI is shaping the future of media, the web, and information itself. My day-to-day often involves collaborating on reporting and commentary projects bylined by my colleagues, but I try to find time to do my own reporting as well; stories I've broken for Futurism have been cited by publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New Yorker, Wired, Ars Technica, New York Magazine, the Columbia Journalism Review, Bloomberg, and more. I grew up in Southern Vermont and attended Vanderbilt University. Prior to Futurism, I contributed to outlets including the Boston Globe, Vice, Wired, Slate, the Atlantic, the Outline, Ars Technica and more, and did stints in farming and food service. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York, and in my free time I enjoy pinball, word games, cycling, running, and music production.
