Popular YouTube channel [CrashCourse](<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX6b17PVsYBQ0ip5gyeme-Q>) gives us an overview of nuclear physics. The host, Shini, discusses the fundamental aspects of physics with an array of interactive graphics.

The video explains the basics of topics in nuclear physics from binding energy, mass-energy equivalence, strong and weak nuclear forces, and the types of radioactive decay, including alpha, beta, and gamma.

The underlying theme of the entire video revolves around the famous relation between mass and energy in Albert Einstein's equation "E = mc2."

We [owe a lot of what we have today to nuclear physics](<https://arxiv.org/abs/1701.02756>). From creating energy with [nuclear power plants](<https://futurism.com/scientists-plan-to-replace-fossil-fuels-with-nuclear-fusion-by-2030>) to changing how to diagnose and treat patients with [nuclear medicine](<https://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?pg=gennuclear>), we have come a long way thanks to discoveries in this field. The next step in our energy needs may lie in [nuclear energy as well](<https://futurism.com/u-s-senators-we-must-support-safely-operating-nuclear-power-plants>).
