What do you see in this image?

This is the Omega Nebula, an active star-forming region of space that is officially catalogued as Messier 17 (or M17). M17 wanders through the cosmos in the heart of the Milky Way, some 5,500 light-years from Earth. The cloud itself is huge, more than 15 light-years across. It is here that stars are brought into being. It is believed that our own Sun was born in a place much like this. As they ignite, the infant stars sculpt the region into amazing shapes and images—illuminating the dust and gas, allowing us to see the region in all its glory, and helping us to capture these amazing scenes
