This is the little brother to the famous Orion Nebula. Known as Messier 43 (or M43) this nebula is part of the Orion molecular cloud complex located some 1400 light-years away in the constellation Orion.
M43 is separated from the Orion nebula by only a dark lane of dust. Also a star-forming region, in this impressive Hubble close-up, we can see some of our galaxies newest stars and the stellar cocoons where even newer stars will one day ignite.
