British sports car manufacturer [Aston Martin](<http://www.astonmartin.com/>) and Red Bull Racing just announced that they are partnering to create the fastest vehicle on four wheels—a [car](<https://futurism.com/?s=fastest+car>) that could beat the 1500 horsepower that Koenigsegg Regera and Bugatti Chiron are known for.

To date, the [Bugatti Chiron](<http://www.bugatti.com/chiron/>) is the fastest road-legal car. It can go zero to 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 2.5 seconds and go up to 420 km/h (261 mph) on the road. Now, the Aston Martin-Red Bull collaboration will try to beat that.

The official name of the car is AM-RM 001, and it’s expected to cost more than the $2.4 million it took to build the [Aston Martin Vulcan](<https://www.astonmartin.com/en/vulcan>), which was unveiled and demonstrated at the car manufacturer’s Special Projects facility in Wellbourne, England.

The hypercar will have a design anchored on F1 aerodynamics, minus some of the restrictions, which according to Aston’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, presents an exciting and unique opportunity to create a tangible hypercar that runs on actual F1 race car elements.

But we have to wait to see whether the Aston Martin and Red Bull creation can actually beat the Chiron until the car debuts in 2018.
