# Astronomy Photo of the Day: 6/1/14 – SH2-64

This incredible image, captured by Adam Block (from the Mount Lemmon SkyCenter and the University of Arizona), was taken of SH2-64; the home of a stellar nursery found more than 1,000 light-years from Earth (*in the Aquila constellation*).

The region, which spans an impressive 25 light-years across, is quite diverse. It has many different nebulae wrapped up in one. We have dark nebulae *(called Gould’s Belt)*; reflection nebulae and a few emission nebulae; all powered by the immensely huge stars forming within them.

Once the protostars emerge from their slumber, they will continue to shape this star-forming region until it is no longer recognizable.
