# NFL players will be tracked by embedded RFID sensors this season

- Each player will have two sensors embedded in his shoulder pads -- one in the left shoulder pad and one on the right. So the system will know which way a player is facing.
- Eventually, the data will power a variety of apps -- like the NFL 2015 app that will offer replays and other stats that include speed travelled. Broadcasters will use the data as well -- I'm wondering whether the makers of Madden will get a look at it.
- Zebra Technologies will provide the technology for the RFID shoulder pads.
