Einstein is probably one of the smartest human beings who ever lived, and he is certainly one of the smartest people (if not the smartest person) that the average individual can name. He was responsible for unifying mass and energy with his famous E=mc^2 equation. This is considered by many to be the world’s most famous equation.

Additionally, developed the general theory of relativity and , in so doing, laid the foundation for all modern science. Most of the aforementioned are things that all people know about him. Here are are interesting things that you may not know.

Einstein was a target of the Nazi party. In fact, his work was labeled as "Jewish Science," and teachers were banned from discussing it. As a result, he was forced to flee to America, where he contributed to the Manhattan Project (code name for the atomic bomb), and helped the Allies win World War II. However, after the war, he became a strong advocate for disarmament and is widely regarded as a pacifist. In fact, he was a member of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), and frequently corresponded with famous black rights activists such as W.E.B Du Bois.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not surprising that Einstein accomplished so much. He did not fail math; rather, he showed his genius from a very young age. He was able to do advanced, university level math at an age when most are still in middle school. This led to a great fascination with his brain. Specifically, many wanted to know how it differed from the average humans, which is probably why someone stole it after his death. Pathologist Thomas Harvey saved Einstein's brain, despite the scientists wishes.
